Mascot Research

My Character: 

golden retriever puppy. cute, friendly, lovable, loyal, soft, playful. most likely used as a mascot for a company that targets kids, but could work for any dog-lover audience. possible uses include: pet shop, retail store for kids, animal shelter, cartoon show, animal rights or related non-profit company.

Below are a few well-known cartoon dog characters, all known for being lovable and friendly. The are good examples to get an idea of how I would like to characterize my puppy.

Clifford is a friendly puppy that grows into an oversized dog. He grew so big that his family had to leave the city for a house with more space. He is caring and selfless and is always looking out for others. He is very well-liked in his community because he uses his large size to help people.

Snoopy is Charlie Brown's dog. He is very human-like and sometimes seems to forget he is a dog. His thoughts are expressed through his actions and through "thought bubbles." His favorite thing to do is pretend to be someone else. His best known alter-ego is the "flying ace" which is where he sits on top of his doghouse with a scarf, cap and goggles and pretends to fly an airplane.

Pluto is Mickey Mouse's dog, modeled off of an English Pointer breed.  he is cheerful and adventurous, and communicates through barks, grunts and facial expressions. He is easily frightened and often gets jealous of Mickey thinking about getting another pet. he is a good example of a friendly, outgoing and lovable character.

Scooby Doo is Shaggy's sidekick, but he is really more of the main character of the comic series. He is also friendly, funny, and lovable. Unlike Pluto and Snoopy, Scooby Doo actually communicates with words. Episodes always involve ghosts and monsters, but the show is comical and not meant to actually be scary. Scooby Doo is a goofy character, and not meant to be a realistic portrayal of a dog.
